We follow four principles to ensure our images communicate our values and our personality.

  1. Global: Reflect the global nature of our community, connections and locations. Look for images from around the world, with a mix of colours, textures and stylistic influences to breathe life and energy into our content.
  2. Authentic: Tell a real story or capture a moment that shows students, staff and researchers actively engaged in an activity.
  3. Dynamic: Show the vibrancy and diversity of life at the university. Find images that convey a sense of wonder, discovery, enjoyment, achievement and passion.
  4. Diverse: Celebrate the diverse nature of what we do and the people who study and work here. Choose images that show the depth and breadth of university life, from the beauty and scale of our campuses, to our world-class facilities and the pioneering work of our researchers.

University life

Undergraduate study

This should give a glimpse into the everyday life of an undergraduate.

[insert image examples eg of students in concentration in a lecture theatre, working in a lab, debating in a seminar, or in a relaxed group discussion in a café, showing a variety of expressions and emotions.]

Postgraduate study

This should focus on the detail and excellence of each course.

[insert image examples of students looking engaged, immersed and challenged in their learning and research]

On campus

Show how the campus is somewhere that adapts to each individual student’s needs and personality. It’s a distinctive feature, so let’s show it off.

[insert image examples of eg on a night out, reading by oneself, walking from halls or lectures, the landscaped greenery in different seasons, stunning architecture both modern and traditional]

Off campus

Nottingham’s rich history, multi-cultural community and unforgettable atmosphere all offer an excellent showcase of life beyond the campus.

[insert image examples of eg art scene, shops, theatres, trams, food and drink, sport, nightlife…]

Research

You can use abstract imagery to demonstrate our research capabilities, which have an impact on the lives of millions of people worldwide. And our research excellence is fuelled by people, so let’s celebrate them in their environment.
